COUNSELLING
WITH CHARLOTTE

Discover a welcoming approach to therapy

Charlotte is so easy to talk to.

Charlotte allowed me

to explore my thought

processes in a positive

and constructive way.

I always felt energised

and empowered

after the sessions

Why do
we come to therapy?

Friends and family

can help us with

emotional difficulties.

But sometimes we need to

talk to someone who is

unconnected and neutral

to help us gain perspective

and understanding.

Perhaps we need help with a

major life crisis or a specific

issue.

Or it may be that we're

struggling with day-to-day

life and would value someone

to talk to and gain clarity.

I understand that asking for

help can be daunting.

I also know that seeking

counselling may be the first

step to a happier future.

I was very apprehensive about having counselling sessions to start with but Charlotte was amazing and really put my mind at ease.

She has helped me through some very difficult times and I cannot thank her enough for the kindness and patience she gave me.

Hi, my name

is Charlotte

I believe that the relationship between counsellor and client is crucial in achieving successful therapy.

This is why I strive to build a safe and trusting environment in which you feel able to open up.

I will be curious about your early relationships and experiences but also understand that some people may wish to focus more on ‘here and now’ issues.

Others may wish to look at difficult past experiences.

Either way, we will go at your pace and our work will be collaborative.

How do I work?

I am open to working in creative ways.

Some clients find working with sand trays, stones and art

tools useful.

Others simply wish to talk.

Both can be very powerful and healing experiences.

I am an integrative counsellor which is a combined approach to psychotherapy, bringing together different elements of specific therapies.

I believe that there is no single approach that suits each client in all situations.

Rather, each person needs to be considered as a whole and counselling techniques must be tailored to their individual needs and personal circumstances.

What happens next?

If you’d like more information please feel free to get in touch.

Will I need short or longer-term therapy?

This will be discussed at your initial assessment. Usually, clients have six sessions at first, after which we will jointly decide how many more (if any) are needed.

Initial, free assessment

This is a 20-30 minute telephone chat to find out about you and what brings you to counselling. If we feel we can work together, we’ll find a mutually convenient day and time for weekly sessions.

Location & fees

Counselling is either in-person or online and sessions last 60 minutes. In-person therapy takes place at either the Priory Street Centre in York or in Wheldrake, YO19. Each session costs £50.
